If you're looking for a place to hang your hat, there's a good chance you'll find it in Dubai.

The United Arab Emirates capital has been named the "Creative City of Design" by UNESCO, making it the 354th such city in the world and the first in the Middle East, reports the BBC.

The award was announced at the annual conference of UNESCO's Creative Cities Network in Braga, Portugal, where Dubai Culture and Arts Authority CEO Saeed Mubarak bin Kharbash took part in a panel discussion on how culture and education can "empower future generations through culture and arts education," per a release.

The announcement came as part of Dubai's efforts to become a "global center for culture, an incubator for creativity, and a thriving hub for talent," per the release.

In addition to its status as the first "Creative City of Design" in the Middle East, Dubai is also home to the Dubai Design Lab, which aims to give young people "essential skills and tools to stimulate creative thinking and devise new solutions to potential challenges," per the release.
