"We are reimagining the ways in which our children can learn, and this new outdoor classroom is a testament to that."
That's what the Reservoir Gifted Academy in Peoria, Ill., is banking on when it comes to its latest addition: an outdoor classroom that's more than twice the size of a typical classroom, WLDS reports.
The 22,000-square-foot space, which was paid for with more than $20,000 raised during the academy's Help-A-Thon fundraiser last fall, features a rock wall, a climbing wall, a mini-golf course, a playground with slides and a mini-movie theater, and more.
"So we look forward to projects, we can expand into things that are limited by the classroom size, this kind king will bring different projects into play, even science that we can have added to the lessons," one of the academy's parents tells WMBD.
"It is a testament to the institution's commitment to fostering creativity, curiosity, and academic excellence in the next generation of leaders and thinkers."
