The CEO of a foundation funded by Merck has been named the "Best Health Sector Philanthropy of the Year 2023" at the Ghana Philanthropy Awards, Business Executive reports.
Dr.Rasha Kelej, CEO of the Merck Foundation, received the award at a ceremony in Accra on Thursday.
"This award is a testament to our efforts and commitment of the past 11 years, towards healthcare capacity advancement and patient care transformation in Africa and beyond," Kelej said in a statement.
The foundation, a philanthropic arm of Merck KGaA, has provided more than 1690 scholarships to doctors from 50 countries in 39 medical specialties, including Oncology, Diabetes, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Respiratory, Acute Medicine, and Reproductive medicine, according to a press release.
