An Indiana teenager has won a prestigious high school music competition, and her classmate is second.
Jasmine Yang of Columbus North won the Betty F.
Brown Awards for Instrumental Excellence on Saturday at the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic's Helen Haddad Hall, performing "Malaguena" by Lecuona, the Indiana Republic reports.
Gavin Foley of Columbus East won the Anna Newell Brown Awards for Vocal Excellence, singing "My Lady Walks in Loveliness" by Charles and "Torna a Surriento" by Bautista de Curtis.
Both students receive $3,500 scholarship awards.
