and his wife, Jennifer Adger Grant, decided to start a scholarship fund for students of color at Florida International University, they didn't just name it the Gerald C.
Grant Jr.
and Jennifer Adger Grant Scholarship Fund.
Their generous $1 million giftwhich was used to create the Gerald C.
Grant Jr.
and Jennifer Adger Grant Scholarship Fund, as well as the Gerald C.
Grant Jr.
and Jennifer Adger Grant Foundationis just one example of the family's many philanthropic efforts, the Miami Herald reports.
"I've had strong mentors in my life that always had the commitment to make our communities better," Gerald Grant Jr.
says.
"As a result, we get all of our families involved and we're trying to be the example for the next generation."
The elder Grant has served on numerous United Way committees and on the organization's board of directors.
His son, Gerald Grant III, is following in his father's footsteps as vice president of the G Financial Group.
Jennifer Adger Grant serves as a Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church trustee and as an FIU Honors College Dean's Advisory Board member.
