Students in Newport News, Va., collected 4,000 cans at the annual Youth Volunteer Corps of Hampton Roads Canstructure Competition to create a three-dimensional work of art, the Virginian-Pilot reports.
An Achievable Dream Academy took the top prize after collecting the most cans, as well as receiving a new award as Grand Champion for its remarkable structure and presentation depicting various children's books.
The middle and high school teams built their canstructures at their respective schools and judges visited prior to Saturday to record each team's presentation.
The high school category was won by Warwick High School.
The elementary school category was won by Richneck Elementary School.
Ella Fitzgerald Middle School was runner-up.

Three social enterprises were recognized at the 2013 President’s Challenge Social Enterprise Award for their major contributions to society. SATA CommHealth and Bliss Restaurant landed Social Enterprise of the Year titles, while Bettr Barista Coffee Academy bagged the award for Social Enterprise Start-up of the Year.
