Santa Barbara's 99.9 KTYD radio station is known for its rock 'n' roll, so it was only a matter of time before the station received an award for its community service.
The nonprofit Santa Barbara Education Foundation gave the award to the station last week at its annual Hope Awards, the Santa Barbara Independent reports.
The station, which has been in the city since 1973, has raised more than $100,000 for music education and collected more than 500 instruments for young musicians over the past six years.
"The work I've always tried to stand for in this community is at the nexus between the public education system, and our nonprofit sector and philanthropy," says former Santa Barbara City College Foundation CEO Geoff Green, who received the award on the station's behalf. Read the Entire Article
