Otto Schoitz Foundation Awards $1.6 Million in Grants

The Otto Schoitz Foundation has given more than $1.5 million to groups that help people of color, veterans, and those facing poverty in Iowa.

The Des Moines Register reports the WATERLOO, Iowa-based foundation has given more than $1.5 million to 20 nonprofit organizations in the Cedar Valley over the last few years.

"We are pleased to partner with organizations that share the vision of reducing barriers and creating new pathways for historically marginalized groups, including people of color, individuals overcoming substance use disorder and mental health illness, veterans, and those facing poverty," Blake Hollis, chair of the foundation's board of directors, says in a press release.

The recipients of this spring's grants, which totaled more than $1.5 million, include Americans for Independent Living, which will use the money to open a new veterans resource center, according to the Waterloo Courier. Read the Entire Article
