The Stocker Foundation has released its latest round of grants, with 109 projects receiving a total of $1.52 million.

The grants, awarded to eight communities across the US, aim to lessen the reading achievement gap for public school students, pre-K through eighth grade, by building critical foundational reading and writing skills and/or by implementing cross-disciplinary and project-based learning through STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics), the foundation said in a press release.

"Empowering students with strong reading literacy skills and fostering engagement in STEAM activities lays the foundation for a future rich with innovation and discovery," said Patricia O'Brien, executive director of the Stocker Foundation.
