Jim Brown's second wife, Monique Brown, has died at the age of 49, People reports.

She was found dead at her home in Santa Monica, Calif., on Saturday.

She had been in hospice care since last week, according to TMZ.

Brown, who played for the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Colts during his playing days, was the founder of the Amer-I-Can Foundation, which helps young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Monique Brown, who was born in the US and grew up in California, started her career in the entertainment world as a model before nabbing a role in an ad campaign for Levi's in the 1980s.

She married Brown in 1983 and stayed with him until his death in 2023.

"Monique's childhood activities and aspirations set the stage for her future encounters and her eventual meeting with Jim Brown," her family says in a statement.

"Her education provided a foundation for her future career and personal growth....

Information about Monique's higher education is limited in public records.

However, her later success suggests she likely pursued some form of post-secondary education or training related to her career fields."
