The UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization ( UNESCO) has announced the winners of its annual Wenhui Award for Educational Innovation in the Asia-Pacific region.
Cambodia's Ministry of Education and Youth's "MoEYS COVID-19 Response and Recovery Plan," developed in response to the country's devastating earthquakes in 2011, and Pakistan's Knowledge Platform's "AI-Driven Adaptive and Blended Learning Solution," designed to mitigate learning losses during pandemics, will each receive $220,000, Mashable reports.
Out of 94 applications from 25 countries in the region, 37 came from 16 countries, including Afghanistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, and Kyrgyzstan, according to a press release.
The award was launched in 2010 by UNESCO and China's National Commission of the People's Republic of China to recognize and reward individuals and institutions making exceptional contributions to educational innovation in the Asia-Pacific region.
Since its inception, 24 winners have received a prize of more than $1 million.
