A Pennsylvania school district is winning rave reviews for its Destination Imagination competition, which encourages students to think outside the box.

The Centre Daily Times reports three Bellefonte Area School District teams took home gold at the tri-state competition held in Baltimore on March 16.

The middle school team won in the Blast from the Past challenge, which required them to design and create a puppet based on a character from the past.

The high school team won the Going the Distance challenge, which asked them to design and build a device that could be assembled and tested in two different configurations.

The high school team also took home gold in the Heroes challenge, which asked them to design and build a pinball system through which pinball moves and interacts with three machine modules.

The challenges teach students a framework for creative problem solving they can apply to any challenges they encounter, no matter the subject.

Destination Imagination says its programs empower students to take the lead, take risks, and learn from their mistakes, in the hope of creating lifelong problem solvers. Read the Entire Article
