A Washington state high school senior has been named the state's top high school student for the second year in a row, the Spokesman-Review reports.

Nathan Holterhoff, a senior at North Central High School in Wenatchee, was named the top student in the math, science, and English categories of the North Central Tech Alliance's 23rd annual Innovator Awards.

"This year's represent diverse and dynamic spirit of innovation, education, diverse and dynamic spirit of entrepreneurship that defines North Central Washington," David Mabee, the alliance's executive director, says in a press release.

Holterhoff, who started the school's after-school robotics program, says he was inspired to start the school after seeing other high school students start their own after-school robotics programs.

"I wanted to do something that would inspire other kids to do the same thing."

Holterhoff is one of 15 finalists in five categories.
