Innovative Approach of Job Preparation in High School

In an innovative turn on vocational training a set of under-performing high schools are implementing specific classes into in order to assist students in getting jobs when they graduate.

In particular, the focus is on a set of 5 schools in Buffalo, NY who are trying to implement classes that are directly useful to new surrounding businesses. These businesses are primarily tech related, and require specialized skills, such as solar panel manufacturing. They expect approximately 12,000 new jobs to be created in the next few years, providing many possible opportunities for graduating students.

This program was in part possible due to a $7 million federal grant, allowing the creation for these classes as well as partnerships between some of the high schools and local colleges. Read the Entire Article
