Career Institute helps young adults in San Bernardino County find jobs or training. The organization identifies and pays for short-term occupational training, works with youths on work readiness, helps them find a part-time job and then assists them with college enrollment or other post-secondary training.
The Institute serves the city of San Bernardino, the west end of San Bernardino County, Victorville, Barstow, Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear communities.
Teresa Taylor, the institute's CEO, said helping young adults is critical to their futures. In that time, The Institute aims to find opportunities for students to get paid work experience and may offer them help with transportation assistance through gas cards and bus passes.
The Institute does presentations across the county to reach churches, youth groups, alternative schools, foster programs, high schools and other organizations.
"Our reach is pretty wide," Taylor said. They work as student ambassadors and office staff."
