Higher Education Needs a Higher Bar to Equip Us for a Flourishing Future

Coro Strandberg, President of Strandberg Consulting, asks in her latest article on Sustainable Brands if higher education institutions in Canada are doing enough to equip their professionals for a future-fit role in the organization.

Strandberg shares a new study that indicates an opposite response. The study, called Corporate Social Responsibility in Canadian Post-Secondary Institutions: The Current and Ideal State of CSR in Teaching, Research and Partnering, finds that CSR (corporate social responsibility) is not well-integrated into the academic curriculum, and that many students lack exposure to CSR.

The study's respondents addressed barriers to CSR integration, from inertia to lack of support and incentives from senior administration. The respondents recommended that administrative leadership, incentives and standards are necessary to break down these barriers.

The respondents of the study provided these ideas to bridge the gap in CSR education and engage the private sector in a more impactful CSR: teaching, research, collaboration, institutional resoruces, and thought leadership.

Strandberg notes that "Canada's academic institutions can lead the way, and help Canadians lead the world." Read the Entire Article
