Ghana's MTN has been named "Best Company in SSI Project of the Year (Socio-Economic), Best Company in Educational Sponsorship Project, Best Company in Economic Empowerment, and Best Company in Employee Volunteerism Initiatives" at the 11th annual Sustainability and Social Impact Awards.
The telecom company was also named "Best Company in Africa" and "Best Company in the World" at the awards held in Accra last week, the Ghana News Agency reports.
The MTN Ghana Foundation, a corporate social investment arm of the company, has invested more than $64 million in 158 major projects in the areas of education, health, and economic empowerment, which are directly impacting an estimated 4 million and several others indirectly.
