Go For Broke Announces Scholarships for High School, College Students

For more than 50 years, the Go For Broke National Education Center has offered high school and college students from Japanese-American communities across the US a chance to win a scholarship, the Los Angeles Times reports.

This year's theme: "Reflection and Introspection."

Students are asked to write 400 to 500 words on one of three topics: "Privilege, Positionality, and Power" or "From Hate to Hope: Uniqueness & Intersections: Anti-Asian Hate, Anti-Semitism, Anti-Mint, Homophobia."

"How does our nation continue to grapple with contemporary issues of privilege, position, and power? Offer insights on your role in addressing these dynamics," the contest website says.

The winners will be announced in May and will receive $1,000 each, as well as a chance to be profiled in the organization's weekly Japanese-English newspaper, the Rafu Shimpo. Read the Entire Article
